How It Works

eJunkie will manage the purchase process and then provide the buyer with a download link. The link expires in 5 days and allows for failed downloads during that time period.

Choices: For studio albums we prefer the iTunes Plus codec running at 256kpbs. For live albums, which are often sourced from cassette tapes, we prefer MP3 with LAME 3.99 in Joint Stereo running at VBR 256kpbs. Download audio at these settings is approaching transparency. We cannot say we prefer one over the other after many hours spent in blind listening tests at Suma. MP3 offers more versatility in difficult situations. There are those who insist that a 320kpbs Constant bit rate is the be all and end all. We don't agree, again after hours spent in blind listening tests.

FLAC Fans - Mr Thomas is not a fan of FLAC and other 'lossless' codecs. "I can see the attraction," he explains, "But I am unconvinced. MP3 technology continues to improve, approaching transparency. Nevertheless, for studio recordings I will continue to consider it."

NB. The dates attached to the releases above are the recording dates, not release dates.

If you are concerned about some part of the process, if something is wrong or doesn't look right, or if you have any sort of issue and would like to contact a human being, feel free to email Communex.
